What is CrossFit?
Officially? Cross Fit is defined as "constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement". What the heck does that mean? It means the workouts are always changing, they involve movement we use every day of our lives and are challenging. Sound scary? It isn't. Cross Fit workouts are appropriate for everyone from an Olympic athlete to your grandparents. The workouts for these two extremes don't vary in kind, just in amount and intensity. We all move our bodies in the same ways. Cross Fit workouts can easily be scaled and adapted for anyone. While Cross Fit will definitely make you better at your sport, it will also make you better at every movement in life. Skiers are really good at skiing, runners are really good at running, bikers really good at biking…Cross Fit athletes are really good at EVERYTHING! Want to know more about Cross Fit? What is a WOD?
WOD stands for workout of the day. Since CrossFit is constantly varied, you never know what is coming. One thing is for sure…it will be challenging and it will get you results!
100 Words to Good Health:
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.
